Doggie Daycare Opens in Island Park
Local Pet Care Franchise’s 5th Location Opens on the South Shore
Four years ago when Hounds Town Island Park owner Lauren Duffy first stumbled upon doggie daycare Hounds Town USA, she never imagined she would open her own location. She was first introduced to the pet care franchise as a customer, bringing her dog Willy to the Farmingdale location for several years while she worked in pharmaceutical sales. Lauren and Willy became hooked on the fully interactive doggie daycare! “Willy loves his friends at Hounds Town Farmingdale!” says Lauren. “Willy has been boarding at Hounds Town for three years, and loves every minute of his visits,” Lauren explains.
Fast forward to 2016, when her and her partner Jimmy began to seriously think about career changes and an investment in the booming pet care industry. After searching for the perfect location in the Mineola area, the opportunity to purchase an existing doggie daycare business in Island Park presented itself. Several months of renovations later, Hounds Town – Island Park opened its doors to hundreds of south shore customers in need of reliable and honest pet care, becoming the pet care franchise’s 5th location.
Hounds Town – Island Park boasts 2,200 square feet of outdoor space for play, and over 3,000 square feet of large indoor playrooms, luxury suites, boarding “town houses,” and a full service grooming salon. The pet care facility offers fully interactive doggie daycare–where dogs play in groups of other dogs of similar size, temperament, and personality. Unlike other pet care facilities, all Hounds Town USA locations offer daycare all day long and they do not breed discriminate. Owners and employees are pet care professionals, trained to manage all kinds of dogs despite physical disability or breed. “We specialize in allowing all dogs the opportunity to be a dog,” says franchise owner and founder Michael Gould, a former NYPD canine handler and commanding officer of the Nassau County Canine Unit.
Hounds Town – Island Park business is already booming, with pooches coming from the Long Beach, Oceanside, and Island Park areas to enjoy all-day play. The social interaction in natural packs is tremendously beneficial for dogs, as it helps keeps dogs physically fit and understand boundaries, and reduces separation anxiety and other behavioral issues. “The psychological structure that our packs provide is crucial for dogs to live a balanced life,” explains Mike. “We have seen dogs with physical ailments and challenging behavioral problems benefit significantly from regular structured interaction in a pack,” he says.
Hounds Town – Island Park is offering discounted doggie daycare packages, as well as $20 Saturday daycare. If your pooch isn’t a Hounds Town member yet, he’s missing out! Give Hounds Town – Island Park a call at 516.889.7777 to schedule a FREE temperament evaluation today.
